Last week, members of the I-94 West Corridor Coalition visited Washington D.C. During this visit, Coalition members met with members of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation and the Federal Highway Administration.

The group met with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, U.S. Senator Al Franken, Congressman Tom Emmer, Congressman Rick Nolan, and a staff member from the office of Congressman Erik Paulsen and Congressman Jason Lewis. While not directly representing the corridor, Congressman Rick Nolan and Congressman Jason Lewis, both serve on the U.S. House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

In addition to meeting with Minnesota’s Congressional Delegation, the group met with a number of officials from the U.S. Department of Transportation including members of the Intergovernmental Relations team, the Federal Highway Administration, and key staff overseeing the Federal TIGER and INFRA Grant programs.

These meetings allowed the Coalition members to communicate past successes, next steps, and upcoming milestones that will make a lasting impact as ur projects continue to advance – construction of Phase II – St. Michael to Albertville, the completion of the 610 project, and the Brockton Interchange. In addition to discussing the Corridor, Coalition members were able to learn more about the status of Congress, the Administration, and how each of these factors impact the future success of the Corridor projects.
