The I-94 West Corridor Coalition is pleased to share highlights from a productive and impactful event held recently in Monticello, Minnesota. On March 20, 2026, U.S. Representatives Tom Emmer (MN-06) and Pete Stauber (MN-08) hosted House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (MO-06) for a roundtable discussion and road tour focused on critical infrastructure needs along the I-94 corridor and broader surface transportation priorities. Local leaders, including Wright County Administrator Greg Kryzer and our own Coalition Chair Steve Bot, joined the conversation to emphasize the importance of timely federal investment in roads, bridges, and highways that support economic growth, safety, and community vitality in our region. The group toured the ongoing I-94 Gap Construction site, underscoring the real-world progress and remaining needs in Wright County and along the I-94 West Corridor.

This conversation highlighted the urgency of completing the Surface Transportation Reauthorization (highway bill) on time, before its expiration on September 30, 2026. Chairman Graves stressed that the forthcoming legislation represents one of the most significant highway bills in decades, offering states like Minnesota greater flexibility to address priority projects with reduced red tape and a renewed focus on core infrastructure. Representatives Emmer and Stauber echoed the value of federal support for projects like those in the I-94 corridor, which drive safe, thriving communities and economic expansion. Congressman Emmer noted his prior success in securing $3 million for the I-94 Gap/Expansion project, demonstrating tangible federal-local partnerships that deliver results.

As a non-partisan coalition dedicated to advocating for improvements to I-94 and its supporting infrastructure—from short-term safety enhancements to long-term capacity additions—the I-94 West Corridor Coalition appreciates the attention and commitment shown by these congressional leaders. Events like this roundtable reinforce the importance of collaboration among local governments, businesses, and federal partners to ensure our corridor remains a reliable engine for Minnesota’s economy and quality of life.

We look forward to continued dialogue and progress as the highway bill advances, and we encourage our members and supporters to stay engaged in these efforts that benefit communities all along the corridor.
