Roads and bridges were made a priority in the bonding bill with huge investments topping $400 million being made to reduce accidents, improve safety and decrease congestion across the Twin Cities and beyond. Over $100 million more were set aside for the Department of Transportation’s Local Road Improvement Fund Grants and Local Bridge Replacement Program Grants.
For the North Metro, nearly $150 million has been allocated for Highways 10 and 65 to add a lane, swap intersections with over or underpasses, and reduce bottlenecks.
During the signing of the $2.6 billion capital investment bill under the Hennepin Avenue Bridge, Walz stated, “This is truly the golden age of infrastructure construction across the state. This commitment on one of the basic functions of government is to help fund and build infrastructure across the state in all corners of the state.”
